That the climate is changing has been documented in numerous National Academies reports, especially in the America’s Climate Choices series, on which BECS assisted the lead Board on Atmospheric Science and Climate, which maintains the website Climate Change at the National Academies. The changing climate presents challenges on a number of fronts, both within the research communities, and for society as it strives to make decisions that will maintain human well-being as the world around us changes. BECS provides insights that facilitate research and help decision-makers incorporate social science, with societal concerns, into decisions that otherwise would be only technologically based. |
