Over the past two decades standards and assessment have become central mechanisms for change in education nationally and at the state level. In science education the National Research Council has been a leader in the standards movement since the mid-1990s with the publication of the National Science Education Standards. The recent report A Framework for K-12 Science Education heralds a new generation of science standards, starting with a vision of excellence in science education for all students that is based on a synthesis of recent research findings. |
