Achievement in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) is a prime concern at the state and federal levels. With looks at successful approaches to STEM education and exploration of ways testing can support improvements in instruction and achievement, our work complements numerous other NRC reports on STEM learning, and its new framework for K-12 science education.

Developing Assessment of Science Proficiency in K-12

The committee will make recommendations for strategies for developing assessments that validly measure student proficiency in science as laid out in the new K-12 science education framework.

Evaluation Framework of K-12 STEM Education

A committee is identifying methods for tracking and evaluating the implementation of improvements to effective instructions in STEM education recommended in the earlier report Successful K-12 STEM Education.
