          This event celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Aeronautics and Space Engineering Board

                               of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.

Statement of Task

 

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine will appoint an ad hoc committee to organize a one-day workshop associated with the 50th anniversary of the Aeronautics and Space Engineering Board (ASEB) that will focus on promoting discussions among the participants on:

 

  • Historical contributions of the ASEB to the development of the U.S. civil aeronautics sector;
  • An outline of the current state of play of the civil aeronautics sector; and
  • A visioning exercise to discuss how the United States civil aeronautics enterprise may evolve over the next 30 years.

This workshop will be held at the ASEB's fall 2017 meeting. A brief rapporteur-authored proceedings will be published.
