NEW WORKSHOP: Exploring California and Other Subnational Climate Assessments

Join us August 14-15, 2018 for a two-day public workshop in Washington, DC that will focus on the process and results from California's Fourth Climate Change Assessment and other sub national assessments around the country. This workshop will describe climate assessment activities that can identify vulnerabilities for populations, infrastructure systems, and natural resources and strategies that can address these vulnerabilities. Workshop speakers will highlight opportunities to share knowledge and experience between states and regions, and identify common themes and challenges faced in subnational assessment. NEW STUDY: Assessment of Technologies for Improving Fuel Economy of Light-Duty Vehicles

At the request of the U.S. Department of Transportation, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine is undertaking a new study on fuel economy technologies for light-duty vehicles.  Learn more at  


NEW REPORT: Enhancing the Resilience of the Nation's Electricity System

 Electricity is fundamental to our nation’s health, safety, and economy. However, extreme weather events, earthquakes, cyber attacks, and other threats have the potential to cause large-scale outages, putting lives at risk. Our new report, Enhancing the Resilience of the Nation's Electricity System, identifies promising technologies, policies, and organizational strategies that should be implemented on the federal, state, and local levels.
