The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine organized a one-day symposium on the privacy of employee data on June 6, 2017. This event built off our report, Strengthening Data Science Methods for Department of Defense Personnel and Readiness Missions, which offers a roadmap and implementation plan for the integration of data analytics in support of decisions made within the purview of the Department of Defense’s Personnel and Readiness Office. While the report provided an overview of challenges, this symposium more fully explored privacy concerns and best practices for the collection and use of personnel data.  For questions about the event, please contact Michelle Schwalbe at mschwalbe@nas.edu.
