News from the Board on Physics and Astronomy

The BPA's Committee to Survey of the Active Scientific Use of the Radio Spectrum conducted its first meeting on August 15-16 in Washington, DC where it heard perspectives from NASA, NSF, DARPA, the FCC, and NTIA.  The committee will convene again on November 14-15 in Irvine, California.

The BPA released Views of the NAS and NAE on Agenda Items at Issue at the World Radiocommunication Conference 2015 which provides guidance to U.S. spectrum managers and policymakers as they prepare for the WRC in order to protect the scientific exploration of the Earth and Universe using the radio spectrum. While the resulting document is targeted at U.S. agencies, representatives of foreign governments and foreign scientific users will find its contents useful as they plan their own WRC positions.

The Committee on Astronomy and Astrophysics, a joint standing committee of the BPA and the SSB, will convene for its fall meeting on November 4-5 in Washington, DC.

The Board on Physics and Astronomy will gather for its fall meeting on November 18-19 at the Beckman Center in Irvine, California.
