Forum on Alternative Work Arrangements for Federal Agencies: "Hoteling"

Technology, generational cultural shifts, space and energy saving requirements are a few of many factors impacting workforce management today in federal agencies and other organizations. The Office of Personnel Management has determined that the federal government has shifted from a “telework” model to a “mobile work” model. The GSA has identified four areas where mobility provides benefits: business, people, space, and environment.
The Federal Facilities Council (FFC) will hold a series of forums on “alternative work arrangements”. The first forum will provide an overview of policies and practices for alternative work arrangements in federal agencies, and will also look in greater depth at “hoteling”. The GSA defines “hoteling” as follows:
• Employees work in one facility part of the time (facility A) and at one or more alternative worksites the rest of the time
• When working in facility A, these employees use non-dedicated, non-permanent workspaces assigned for use by reservation on an as-needed basisAGENDA
