Giving Societies

  

Your financial contribution greatly enhances the impact of the NAS, NAE, and NAM as advisers to the nation. We recognize a donor's cumulative giving, annual giving, and planned giving.  


CUMULATIVE GIVING 

The Einstein Society acknowledges members and friends whose cumulative lifetime giving is $100,000 or more. In honor of their contributions, they are:

  • Einstein wRobert BerksRecognized on donor recognition plaques at the historic NAS Building and Keck Center in Washington, DC, and the Beckman Center in Irvine, CA;
  • Presented with a replica of the famous Einstein sculpture, located in Washington, DC; 
  • Listed in the annual Report of the Treasurer, the National Academy of Engineering's Annual Report and The Bridge, and the NAM Annual Report.

 

 

The Elkan Blout Society acknowledges members of the National Academy of Sciences whose cumulative giving is $20,000 to $99,999. In honor of their contributions, NAS members are:

  • Recognized on donor recognition plaques at the historic NAS Building and Keck Center in Washington, DC, and the Beckman Center in Irvine, CA;
  • Listed in the annual Report of the Treasurer.

 

The Golden Bridge Society acknowledges members and friends of the National Academy of Engineering whose cumulative giving is $20,000 to $99,999. In honor of their contributions, Society members are:

  • Recognized on donor recognition plaques at the historic NAS Building and Keck Center in Washington, DC, and the Beckman Center in Irvine, CA;
  • Listed in the NAE Annual Report and The Bridge.

 

The NAM Society acknowledges members and friends of the National Academy of Medicine whose cumulative giving is $20,000 to $99,999. In honor of their contributions, Society members are:

  • Recognized on donor recognition plaques at the historic NAS Building and Keck Center in Washington, DC, and the Beckman Center in Irvine, CA;
  • Listed in the annual Report of the Treasurer and the NAM Annual Report

ANNUAL GIVING

Annual giving societies acknowledge members and friends of the NAS, NAE, and NAM who contribute gifts or pledges of $1,000 or more during the calendar year. In honor of their generosity, NAS and NAM society members are recognized in the annual Report of the Treasurer; NAE society members are recognized in the Annual Report and The Bridge. Membership is based on the following annual giving levels: 

 

            The Catalyst Society: $50,000 or more
            The Rosette Society: $25,000 to $49,999
            The Challenge Society: $10,000 to $24,999
            The Charter Society: $1,000 to $9,999


Loyalty Society recognizes members and friends who have made gifts to the National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Engineering, and/or National Academy of Medicine for at least 20 years. 


PLANNED GIVING

Heritage Society MedalThe Heritage Society celebrates members and friends who have planned a gift today that provides for the future. We gratefully recognize individuals who make a bequest, beneficiary designation or another type of planned gift to the National Academies. 

 

Members of the Heritage Society have provided a legacy gift that upholds the mission of the National Academies. We honor these individuals by:

  • Listing their names on the donor recognition plaques at the historic NAS Building and Keck Center in Washington, DC, and the Beckman Center in Irvine, CA;
  • Presenting them with a cast Heritage Society medal as a memento of our gratitude; and
  • Including them in the honor roll of donors found in each Academy's Annual Report and other publications.
