Philanthropic Societies

  

We gratefully acknowledge the significant financial contributions made in support of the initiatives of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS), the National Academy of Engineering (NAE), and the Institute of Medicine (IOM). The collective, private philanthropy of our members and friends greatly enhances our impact as advisors to the nation. The societies below recognize a donor's cumulative giving history, annual gifts, and planned gifts.  


CUMULATIVE GIVING 

The Einstein Society recognizes members and friends whose cumulative lifetime giving is $100,000 or more to the NAS, NAE, and IOM. In honor of their contributions, they are:
  • Recognized on a permanent plaque, displayed at the NAS building in Washington, DC;
  • Presented with a replica of the famous Einstein Sculpture, located in Washington, DC;
  • Listed in the annual Report of the Treasurer and the National Academy of Engineering's Annual Report and The Bridge.

NAS Logo GoldThe Elkan Blout Society recognizes members of the National Academy of Sciences whose cumulative giving is $20,000 to $99,000. In honor of
         their contributions, NAS members are:
  • Recognized on a permanent plaque, displayed at the NAS building in Washington, DC;
  • Listed in the annual Report of the Treasurer.
NAE Golden Bridge

The Golden Bridge Society recognizes members and friends of the National Academy of Engineering whose cumulative giving is $20,000 to $99,999. In honor of their contributions, Society members are:

  • Recognized on a permanent plaque, displayed at the National Academy of Sciences building in Washington, DC;
  • Listed in the NAE Annual Report and The Bridge. 
IOM Logo Green

The IOM Society recognizes members and friends of the Institute of Medicine whose cumulative giving is $20,000 to $99,000. In honor of their contributions, Society members are:

  • Recognized on a permanent plaque, displayed at the National Academy of Sciences building in Washington, DC;
  • Listed in the annual Report of the Treasurer and the IOM President's Report Supplement. 


ANNUAL GIVING

Annual giving societies recognize members and friends of the NAS, NAE, and IOM who contribute gifts or pledges of $1,000 or more during the calendar year. In honor of their philanthropy, NAS, IOM, and NRC society members are recognized in the annual Report of the Treasurer; NAE society members are recognized in the Annual Report and The Bridge. Membership is based on the following annual giving levels: 

 

            Catalyst Society: $10,000 or more
            Rosette Society: $5,000 to $9,999
            Challenge Society: $2,500 to $4,999
            Charter Society: $1,000 to $2,499


PLANNED GIVING

The Heritage Society celebrates the actions of members and friends of the NAS, NAE, and IOM who plan a gift today that provides well into the future. We gratefully recognize invididuals who included a bequest in their will or planned another type of deferred gift.  

 

Your participation in the Heritage Society demonstrates a desire to leave behind a legacy that upholds the values of science, engineering, and medicine through the critical work done by the Academies.
