INAUGURAL SENIOR FORD FELLOWS CONFERENCE

The Ford Foundation Fellowship Program reached a significant milestone in 2012: Its 50th Anniversary! The Inaugural Senior Ford Fellows Conference was one of several special events in recognition of this milestone. It was held just prior to the annual Conference of Ford Fellows and was highlighted by a Gala Anniversary Banquet.
Conference Theme: “Reflecting Forward: Diversifying the Academy to Meet Global Challenges”
General Description: This conference engaged Senior Ford Foundation Fellows and other leading scholars to share expertise, strategies, challenges and insights on successfully navigating the post-tenure levels. Collectively, we considered “The Way Forward” in continuing to diversify the academy at all levels to meet global and domestic challenges through higher education.
The conference provided updates on the mission of the Ford Foundation Fellowship Program to diversify the professoriate and breakout sessions to aid career advancement. It fostered an environment to catch up with friends, network, make new contacts and celebrate 50 years of the Ford Foundation Fellowship Program. Participants shared perspectives on development of future conferences for Ford and other senior post-tenure scholars.
