Andrew Sessler, CHR MemberAndrew Sessler is director emeritus and distinguished emeritus scientist of the E. O. Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. He received a B.S. from Harvard University and Ph.D. in physics from Cornell University. Dr. Sessler chaired the Federation of American Scientists from 1987 to 1991, and co-founded Scientists for Sakharov, Orlov and Sharansky. He received the first American Physical Society Nicholson Medal for Humanitarian Service. Dr. Sessler served as vice president of the American Physical Society in 1996 and as its president in 1998. He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, Sigma Xi, and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
