Call for Applications: 2010 Oak Fellowship for Frontline Human Rights Worker

Colby College is pleased to announce the call for applications for its 2010 Oak fellowship for a front line human rights worker.  Designed to provide respite and removal from personal risk as well as recognition for on the ground work, the fellowship provides a generous $32,000 stipend plus transportation, an office, housing and car while in residence at Colby College in Waterville, Maine.  For 2010, we seek a front-line human rights activist advocating for those incarcerated outside the United States.  Areas of work for prisoners’ rights include but are not limited to living standards and health care in prisons, education for inmates, torture, rape, brutality, disciplinary procedures, the right of legal representation, pretrial detention, gender and racial discrimination in incarceration, juvenile detention, political prisoners, illegal detention, and the death penalty.  For more information, FAQs on eligibility, and the application, please consult http://www.colby.edu/academics_cs/goldfarb/oak/index.cfm
