GUIRR Meeting

 June 2018 Banner
The Triple Helix of university-industry-government relations is an internationally recognized model for understanding entrepreneurship, the changing dynamics of universities, innovation, and socio-economic development. However, other organizations play pivotal roles in the research enterprise as well, including private foundations, disease-specific advocacy groups, NGOs, angel and venture capital groups. How and why might universities and industry engage with such non-traditional partners? Do these non-traditional partners offer enough space for investigator-initiated research and basic research? How do focused funding strategies impact the research enterprise, in terms of workforce development, research focus of individual investigators, and leveraging other federal and commercial research funds?
