Women’s Mental Health Across the Life Course Through a Sex-Gender Lens

 This publication from the Committee on population summarizes a workshop held in March 2018 that looked at research, programs and policies designed to better meet the mental health needs of women. Participants examined trends in mental health as well as risk and protective factors for diverse populations of women, and they considered the research needed for a better understanding of women’s mental health.

Workshop Description

The goal of this workshop is to discuss crucial issues in women's mental health and important future directions for research, policy attention, and programmatic intervention. Drawing on recent developments in social demography, social epidemiology, public health, sociology, economics and related fields, workshop participants will explore future directions that have significant promise and are expected to have major influences on research and interventions. A rapporteur will produce a brief proceedings of the workshop consistent with institutional guidelines.
