| The U.S. - Egypt Science and Technology Joint Fund The U.S. - Egypt Science and Technology (S&T) Joint Fund was established under an agreement between the Government of the United States of America and the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt to strengthen scientific and technological capabilities between both countries. To support activities of the Joint Fund, each country jointly matches funds provided by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MHESR). The program is implemented in the U.S. by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) and in Egypt by the Egyptian Science, Technology and Innovation Funding Authority (STDF). | News Cycle 22 Deadline Has Passed Cycle 22 of the U.S.-Egypt S&T Joint Fund launched on November 2, 2022. Proposals for U.S.-Egypt S&T collaborative research projects and Egyptian junior scientist development visits were accepted until the deadline of 3:00 pm Cairo time on January 25, 2023. 2022 Joint Fund Symposium The 2022 Joint Fund Symposium was held virtually on January 10-11, 2022. Alumni Interview Series: Dr. Foster Agblevor and Dr. Waleed El-Zawawy For over 20 years, the U.S.-Egypt S&T Joint Fund has fostered collaboration between the Egyptian and U.S. scientific communities. Dr. Foster Agblevor of Utah State University and Dr. Waleed El-Zawawy of the National Research Centre were the principal investigators for the Cycle 16 project: Fractional Catalytic Pyrolysis for the Production of the Biobased Materials and Biofuels.
