June 2019 GUIRR meeting banner

The fifth generation of wireless networks and technology—collectively labeled 5G—present significant opportunity to transform connectivity. Improvements in bandwidth, latency, coverage, reliability, and security can enable an array of enhanced and new applications. This workshop examined the state of research, development, and deployment of 5G technologies; the challenges of securing 5G networked devices and infrastructure; and the global landscape of competition on 5G deployment. Priorities for cross sector collaboration and coordination between government, universities, and industry to advance the nation’s leadership in wireless communication were also discussed.
