Melanie Suydam Melanie Suydam began working at National Academies in January 2014. She currently leads application processing for the following programs: the NRC Research Associateship Programs, the Ford Foundation Fellowship Programs, the Jefferson Science Fellowships, the CZI Science Diversity Leadership Award, and the Army Research Laboratory (ARL) Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowships. After receiving a B.A. and M.A. in English, Melanie spent over eight years in Hamburg, Germany, teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) to business people employed at international companies. Prior to joining the Fellowships Office, Melanie worked at the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) where she assisted on the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF GRFP), and where she later managed the Air Force Summer Faculty Fellowship Program (AF SFFP) and the National Science Foundation Engineering Innovation Fellows Program (NSF EIFP). Melanie is fluent in German, and in her spare time, she enjoys traveling, baking, and spending time with her cat.
