An ad hoc committee chaired by Dr. Robert Nerem was tasked to address topics such as the impact of modern technology, globalization, and other advancements on the integrity of research; the role of the research community, including government agencies, research institutions and universities, and journals in the integrity of research; and the definition of research misconduct. The pre-publication of the committee's final report, Fostering Integrity in Research was released on Tuesday, April 11, 2017. The archived webcast of the release event is above.
Discussion of the report was led by the following three members of the authoring committee with introductory remarks from Marcia McNutt (President, National Academy of Sciences):
