Eric Basques is a Program Administrator in the Research Associateship Programs and has been with the program since 2003. He has responsibility for over 140 postdoctoral Research Associates on tenure at any given time through 14 federal agencies including the Air Force Research Laboratory, Naval Research Laboratory, Army Research Laboratory, and National Energy Technology Laboratory. His duties include dealing with Associate issues, interacting with Research Advisers and Laboratory Program Representatives, approving the appointment of new Research Advisers, and organizing and performing Site Visits to bring new labs into the program. Dr. Basques also runs the two Review Panels for Physical Sciences and Engineering and Applied Math, organizes and makes staff visits to the labs under his responsibility, and performs program promotion functions at scientific meetings and universities. He received a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Maryland, College Park with an emphasis in energy systems and automatic controls. Previous experience includes work with the federal government and the private sector. He resides in Northern Virginia with his wife, three sons, and two Tibetan Terriers.
