Visa Officer Peggy Wilson has been interested in foreign countries since her grandfather returned from a trip to Guatemala with a small leather purse when she was four years old. She has worked at the National Academies for more than 20 years. She serves as the Responsible Officer of the J-1 exchange visitor visa program for the National Academies. In this role, she evaluates Associateship applicants for eligibility, sponsors J-1 visas, and provides personalized immigration guidance to Associates, NRC staff, and Laboratory Advisers and Administrators. She also provides assistance to other Academies units upon request. In addition to her immigration role, she serves as Program Coordinator for programs at FAA, NMMP, and NPS. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas. She has lived and worked abroad, and traveled extensively. In her free time, she enjoys cooking for friends, cross-country skiing, and singing with a symphonic chorus in Washington, DC.
