Melanie Suydam began working at the National Academies in January 2014. She supports the administration of the Research Associateship Programs and the Ford Foundation Fellowship Program. After receiving a B.A. and M.A. in English, Melanie spent over eight years in Hamburg, Germany, teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) to business people employed at international companies. Prior to joining the Fellowships Office, Melanie worked at the American Society for Engineering Education where she assisted on the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF GRFP), and where she later managed the Air Force Summer Faculty Fellowship Program (AF SFFP) and the National Science Foundation Engineering Innovation Fellows Program (NSF EIFP). In her leisure time, Melanie enjoys traveling, reading, cooking, baking, knitting, camping, and going to the theater.
