Davies Teaching Fellowships
The United States Military Academy (USMA) and the U. S. Army Research Laboratory (ARL) jointly sponsor the Davies Fellows Postdoctoral Teaching and Research Awards in mathematical sciences. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and must have obtained their Ph.D. within the past 5 years. Applicants who are considered by the USMA to be qualified for teaching appointments will be invited to choose a research project and develop a proposal based on National Research Council approved research opportunities at ARL. Awards commence on or about July 1 of the year. Awards are for three years, with continuation in the second and third year contingent on annual evaluations of teaching and research performance. The teaching requirement at West Point is equivalent to teaching two sections of the same undergraduate course per semester, allowing time for carrying out the ARL research program. Research is conducted under the direction of an ARL Adviser on a part-time basis during the academic year and on a full-time basis during the summers. The award includes a stipend with annual increments, relocation to West Point, an allowance for professional travel and subsidized health insurance.
Interested individuals are advised to contact the personnel officer at Department of Mathematical Sciences, ATTN: Personnel Officer, 646 Swift Road, U.S. Military Academy, West Point, NY 10996-1905 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
