In August 2012, members of the U.S. National Committee for DIVERSITAS attended the Ecological Society of America Annual Meeting. During this meeting, the committee also met with affiliates of the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) to discuss: the final opearational design of IPBES, the core functions of the work programme, funding, scientific safeguards and practices, and the next steps.
