Neil S. Buckholtz Neil S. Buckholtz, Ph.D., is Chief of the Dementias of Aging Branch of the Division of Neuroscience at the National Institute on Aging, National Institutes of Health (NIH), Bethesda, Maryland. This involves overall programmatic responsibility for development, coordination, and implementation of basic and clinical Alzheimer’s disease (AD) research. Specifically Dr. Buckholtz is the program administrator for grants and contracts portfolios including AD drug discovery and development and AD neuroimaging and biomarker research. Dr. Buckholtz holds a doctorate in physiological psychology from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and was a faculty member at the Medical University of South Carolina, Department of Psychiatry, from 1970-1983, before coming to NIH.
