The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine hosted a public workshop on The Role of Inducement Prizes on May 29, 2019, in Washington, DC.

Event Description
Organized by an expert committee led by Karim Lakhani of Harvard University and in cooperation with the Laboratory for Innovation Science at Harvard, this workshop formed part of a National Academies study addressing the role of inducement prizes within the U.S. innovation ecosystem. The purpose of the public workshop was to spur further discussion on this topic with experts, practitioners, and competitors in the field of inducement prizes.

Among the topics discussed:

Workshop speakers discussed issues related to inducement prizes based on their professional experience, on topics related to the role of prizes in innovation as well as prize design and facilitation.
