This funding was provided as part of a broader application from the UIDP and its partners from the National Academies, namely the Government-University-Industry Research Roundtable (GUIRR) and the Federal Demonstration Partnership (FDP).

The National Institutes of Health has been a regular participant at UIDP events since the Partnership’s inception and will formalize its relationship with the UIDP through this award. The NIH joins one other federal agency, the National Science Foundation (NSF) as a strategic partner of the UIDP.

 “The financial support provided by this award from the NIH is vital to the activity of the UIDP, but the addition of NIH into the UIDP family is even more meaningful as a endorsement of the vision and mission of UIDP to improve university-corporate research partnerships. Many of the universities and companies participating in the UIDP are actively pursuing the development of new technologies and therapies for addressing many of the country’s health issues,” says Dr. R. Timothy Mulcahy, Vice President for Research at the University of Minnesota and UIDP President. "The support from NIH will help the Partnership devise ways to facilitate development of technologies from innovation to application to improve the quality of life. We are extremely grateful for their support."
