PREDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP SUPPLEMENTARY MATERIALS RECEIPT DEADLINE:
5:00 P.M. Eastern Standard Time on January 9, 2015

  • Official transcript* from institution that awarded baccalaureate degree; must include grades and baccalaureate completion date or undergraduate work completed prior to fall 2014,  
  • Official transcript(s)* showing completion of any Master's degree (if applicable) and official Ph.D./Sc.D. transcript showing all graduate work completed as of fall 2014. Applicants who entered graduate school in fall 2014 should upload a graduate transcript that indicates grades received in fall 2014. If this is not possible, a letter from the graduate institution attesting to progress should be uploaded in its place, 
  • Letters of recommendation (All letters must be submitted using the online system. Applications with less than the minimum of three letters submitted in support of the fellowship application will not be included in the review), 
  • Verification of Predoctoral Status Form and one-page (maximum) essay. Applicants already enrolled in a Ph.D or Sc.D program at the time of fellowship application must certify via submission of the signed form and essay that as of the fall 2015 term they have at least three years of full-time study remaining before they would be eligible to receive their Ph.D. degree and at least one of the three years must be comprised of full-time course work. The official NRC Verification of Doctoral Degree Status form must be signed by the advisor and the one-page essay attached to the form with submission.
  • GRE General Test Scores. (While the National Academies Fellowships Office encourages submission of GRE General Test scores for applicants who are not yet admitted into the Ph.D/Sc.D programs for which Ford Foundation support is sought, submitting GRE scores is optional for these applicants. GRE scores should not be submitted, and will not be accepted, from applicants already enrolled in Ph.D/Sc.D programs. See online application instructions for details.)

*Unofficial transcripts or grade reports are acceptable for the review; however, if offered an award, applicants will be required to submit official transcripts to verify the accuracy of the uploaded transcripts or grade reports. All transcript documents must be saved in reduced .pdf file format (4MB file size limit) prior to upload. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure transcript legibility and degree attainment dates after document upload.

  DISSERTATION FELLOWSHIP SUPPLEMENTARY MATERIALS RECEIPT DEADLINE:
 5:00 P.M. Eastern Standard Time on January 9, 2015

  • Official transcript* from institution that awarded baccalaureate degree; must include grades and degree completion date,
  • Transcript showing completion of Master's degree (if applicable) and Ph.D./ Sc.D. transcript showing all courses taken and final grades for each course completed as of fall 2014,
  • Letters of recommendation (All letters must be submitted using the online system. Applications with less than the minimum of three letters submitted in support of the fellowship application will not be included in the review), and 
  • Verification of Doctoral Degree Candidacy Form. The official NRC Verficiation Form must be signed by the the adviser or another official verifying that the applicant has completed all requirements for the Ph.D./Sc.D. degree except for writing and defense of the disseration. These requirements include, for example, required course work, language requirements, admission to doctoral degreee candidacy, and approval of the dissertation proposal. The fellowship application will be declared ineligible unless a signed and valid copy of the form is uploaded to the fellowship application before the deadline of 5:00 P.M. Eastern Standard Time on Jan. 9, 2015).

 POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP SUPPLEMENTARY MATERIALS RECEIPT DEADLINE:
5:00 P.M. Eastern Standard Time on January 9, 2015
 

  • Official Ph.D. or Sc.D. transcript* showing all Ph.D. courses taken, final grades for each course and date of award of the Ph.D. degree. Postdoctoral fellowship applicants whose Ph.D. degree has not been conferred by November 14, 2014 must also submit the official NRC Verification of Doctoral Degree Attainment form attesting that the applicant has met all requirements for the Ph.D./Sc.D. degree including successful defense of the dissertation proposal by November 14, 2014, Print out the form and submit it to your department chair or advisor at your institution for signature. Once signed, save the form as the final page of your Ph.D. transcript file and upload the final .pdf file to your fellowship application before the January 9, 2015 supplementary materials deadline.
  • Host letter (stating willingness of proposed mentor and the research site to serve as the applicant’s host; this letter is in addition to the required minimum of three letters of recommendation), and
  • Letters of recommendation (All letters must be submitted using the online system. Applications with less than the minimum of three letters submitted in support of the fellowship application will not be included in the review).
