Fellowship Programs

Christine Mirzayan Science & Technology Policy Graduate Fellowship Program
The Christine Mirzayan Science & Technology Policy Graduate Fellowship Program of the National Academies is designed to engage graduate science, engineering, medical, veterinary, business, and law students in the analysis that informs the creation of science and technology policy and to familiarize them with the interactions of science, technology, and government. As a result, students develop essential skills different from those attained in academia and make the transition from being a graduate student to a professional.

Ford Foundation Diversity Fellowships for Achieving Excellence in College and University Teaching
Designed to increase the diversity of the nationÆs college and university faculties by increasing their ethnic and racial diversity, to maximize the educational benefits of diversity, and to increase the number of professors who can and will use diversity as a resource for enriching the education of all students. Predoctoral fellowships support study toward a Ph.D. or Sc.D.; Dissertation fellowships offer support in the final year of writing the Ph.D. or Sc.D. thesis; Postdoctoral Fellowships offer one-year awards for Ph.D. recipients. Applicants must be U.S. citizens in research-based fields of study.

Jefferson Science Fellows
Spend one year at the U.S. Department of State as an adviser on science policy.

Resident Research Associateships
Administer Postdoctoral (within 5 years of the doctorate) and Senior (normally 5 years or more beyond the doctorate) Research Awards sponsored by federal laboratories at over one hundred locations in the United States and overseas and are given for the purpose of conducting research in areas that are of interest to them and to the host laboratories and centers.

Vietnam Education Foundation Fellowships
Seeks to improve the science infrastructure in Vietnam. Fellowships are provided to Vietnamese students who wish to pursue graduate degrees in fields of science in the United States.
